ZeroFlush Waterless Urinals have only one full accredited plumbing service company on the Gold Coast, and that is Whywait Plumbing Services.
We have been your local professional plumber for 40 years since 1976 and have been supplying, installing and maintaining ZeroFlush Waterless Urinal since 2004 on the Gold Coast. With ZeroFlush Waterless Urinal’s we were finalists for Australian Green Plumber of the Year.
In 1998 Whywait Plumbing introduced waterless urinals to the Gold Coast with the first installations at The Oasis Shopping Centre and Gold Coast City Council. Since then we have undertaken numerous installations for clients such as McDonalds, Tatts, Queensland Tennis, Suncorp, Southbank Parklands, Sofitel Gold Coast, A B Paterson College and Coomera Anglican College.
In 2004 we teamed up with ZeroFlush Waterless Urinals, the waterless urinal design leaders based in the US. Our partnership with ZeroFlush Waterless Urinal® has been an outstanding success. We’ve jointly improved on the early models and eliminated any performance flaws over time and as the urinal systems have become more accessible.
The ZeroFlush Waterless Urinal® patented trap systems provide an odour free superior performance. The EnviroSeal operating system trouble free operation and an improved level of sanitation and hygiene in male toilet facilities. Regular programmed maintenance is critical to the ongoing performance of any waterless urinal which is why Whywait Plumbing is experts on all waterless urinals in addition to ZeroFlush.
Whywait Plumbing is a ZeroFlush waterless urinal specialist and is fully equipped with specialist equipment to keep urinals working correctly with no odours and no blockages.
The video below shows us undertaking the servicing of the ZeroFlush Waterless Urinals at the Tatts Group office building at 240 Sandgate Road, Albion on ZF201 urinals fitted with EnviroSeal operating systems.
All waterless urinals in Australia must be certified and authorised through the application of the WaterMark Certification Scheme and be compliant with Australian Technical Standard ATS 5200.469 which guarantees compliance and performance.
Servicing a waterless urinal is not for untrained or unskilled handyman and cleaners as they are not the most pleasant of plumbing fixtures to work on. The video below shows
exactly what happens when you pull the insert out of a ZeroFlush waterless urinal. Graphically this is what you will see as the uric salts and urine in the housing flush down the drain. The reality is when you pull out the insert you immediately have an active sewer connection that will in all likelihood emit odours into the bathroom. This is why the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002 requires that all urinal servicing must be legally undertaken by licensed plumbers in accordance with the manufacturers servicing instructions.
It is not only illegal but potentially dangerous plus will null and void manufacturers warranties and in all likelihood insurance protection to install any non-genuine aftermarket systems such as Fresh & Clean Urinal Cartridges, Desert urinal cartridges or Enswico Key-System urinal wastes in ZeroFlush Waterless Urinals.
The ever increasing cost of water and the water management crisis in South East Queensland from 2006 created tremendous growth and demand for water-saving products. This was especially applied for urinals that were renowned water wasters every time they flushed.
This demand to save water lead to the introduction of products that were labelled waterless urinal systems but which were in reality chemical blocking agents. These so-called waterless urinal systems created enormous problems with odour emissions and blocked drains. The damage these chemical products did to the reputation of genuine WaterMark compliant waterless urinals was immense.
In 2015, AS/NZS 3500.2-2015 clarified amendments from 2010 in the requirements for the use of waterless urinals and banned the practice of converting water flushing urinals to waterless urinals. If you wish to see the damage done to water flushing urinals and the associated waste pipes by so-called chemical waterless urinal systems, watch the video below.
